2016 Youth Empowerment Conference

The inaugural Youth Empowerment Conference featured workshops lead by subject matter experts in the areas of social media, career pathways, respecting authority figures, and much more, in order to better prepare youth for a successful future. Guest entertainers and live performing artists were invited to join students for this learning occasions.

Southern Heritage Classic Annual College Fair

The Southern Heritage Classic is a historic and fun-filled weekend in the Mid-South, and an opportunity for the Office of Youth Services to provide exposure and post secondary options to Memphis youth.

Each year, more than 4,000 attendees receive invaluable information on educational options during the Southern Heritage Classic College Fair. Attendees have access to representatives of local technical schools, four-year colleges from across Southeast region including institutions like the University of Tennessee, Alabama A&M University, and Xavier University. Also onsite are representatives of the U.S. military.

Attendees and institutions of higher learning benefit equally from the fair. High school students and their parents get an inside look at campuses from recruiters and current students while school representatives meet the best and brightest in the Bluff City.
